The sessions will run from 9:00 am to approximately 5:30 pm each day, and participants will have the opportunity to explore the exciting world of optics, photonics, and laser research through a variety of activities. The lectures and hands-on activities are designed to connect with the secondary school curriculum in an engaging way, while offering deeper knowledge. In addition, students will be able to gain experience in a cutting-edge research environment.
Over the five days, the programme will include laboratory sessions, interactive demonstrations, fun team activities, quizzes, and informal discussions, and we are also organizing a fun social event. The sessions will be led by ELI ALPS’s researchers and staff members.
At the end of the camp, participants may take an optional test; those scoring at least 80% would receive 25 points during the admissions process for several degree programmes at the University of Szeged (physics, physics education, bioengineering, environmental engineering, chemical engineering or physics engineering). Students will be able to use these points even if they do not apply for admission this year.
According to feedback from parents, the participants in last year’s camp found the programmes both varied and interesting and were delighted to meet other young people with similar interests. They were introduced to many new and exciting topics that complemented what they had learned at school. The camp reinforced many students’ career aspirations, and it even inspired some to consider a career in research.
The registration fee is 35,000 HUF, which covers the cost of the activities, lunch, a snack (sandwich), and the recreational program.
Enrolment in the camp is limited; we can accept a total of 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
