ELI-ALPS 3rd User Workshop
The Extreme Light Infrastructure – Attosecond Light Pulse Source (ELI-ALPS) is organizing its third User Workshop on November 5 - 6 2015, in Szeged, Hungary. The workshop will be co-organized with the COST action “Advanced X-ray spatial and temporal metrology”.
The ELI-ALPS implementation in Szeged Hungary, is one of the three pillars of the Extreme Light Infrastructure listed in the ESFRI roadmap. It will be the first international facility designed to make a wide range of ultrafast light sources accessible to international user groups. Laser driven secondary sources emitting coherent extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) and X-ray radiation confined in attosecond pulses is a major research initiative of the infrastructure. Laser-driven particle acceleration sources will deliver novel short wavelength, short pulse duration, radiation beam-lines. The unique combination of ELI-ALPS’s primary and secondary sources will provide an exciting research environment for users conducting scientific research and industrial applications. Further information about the Research Infrastructure can be found at http://www.eli-alps.hu/. Initial experimentation will occur at ELI-ALPS in 2016 and ELI-ALPS will be fully operational in 2018.
In order to fulfil its mandate as an international user facility, ELI-ALPS is undertaking preliminary steps towards forming an international user community and incorporating users from a broad spectrum of disciplines, research areas and technological/industrial applications. The third users’ workshop focuses on possible research that can be conducted at ELI-ALPS in the areas of laser plasma, nanoscience/nanotechnology, X-ray optics and industrial and medical applications. The workshops mission is to brainstorm research ideas and technologies that could be optimally and/or uniquely hosted by ELI-ALPS. Presentations are expected to address novel science that can be conducted by facility users exploiting the sources offered by the ELI-ALPS or novel tools that will advance the performance of the infrastructure.
The program of the workshop will comprise of:
- Presentation of the Infrastructure, its primary and secondary sources including provided specialized instrumentation by the personnel of ELI-ALPS
- Invited talks on the above topics
- Poster presentations by participants on research to be conducted at ELI-ALPS Talks are only by invitation.
We look forward to welcome you in Szeged.
